Polter's Berry Farm grows around 40 acres of peppers for both processing and fresh markets. Are peppers are sold to several companies including Vlasic, Bay Valley Foods, Hirzel Canning, D.R.Walcher Farms, and Holthouse Farms.

The bell peppers are grown for fresh market and sold through D.R.Walcher Farms. We harvest them by hand, and deliver them to the packing house were they washed, packed, and shipped out to various chain store distribution centers and terminal markets. We are currently growing Aristotle and Tomcat.

The Jalapeños are grown the processing market. We grow both hot and non-hot jalapeños. The hot jalapeños are typically sliced into rings for use in food service and into jars sold at retail. The non-hot jalapeños (Dulce variety) are sold for use in salsa. The salsa producers can add as many jalapeños as they like and then add heat to the salsa to make it hot. It gives the salsa producer much more control over the heat level of the salsa.

The banana peppers are grown for the processing market. Bay Valley Foods is our main customer. They are sent to processing facilties in Indiana and North Carolina where they are sliced into rings and pickled. The end product is usually sold to retail in jars or to food service and pizza and sandwich shops.
